Diving with dad was held on Sunday, June 19 at Kokololio Beach Park. The conditions were windy so divers were restricted to inside the reef. After roll call / briefing, Lance Ohara gave the divers instructions on legal species and sizes. He also mentioned that trash pick-up was mandatory. Junior Afalla gave a blessing, and the divers were off. Most participants collected trash first, (if you wait till the end there is less trash). The scale, manned by Dayne Fujiwara, was busy.
Trash Winners:
Age 5-8 — Kai Yawata (8.46 lbs);
Age 9-12 — Gavin Sato (22.79 lbs);
Age 13-17 — Kelsie Tsukahara (10.72 lbs).
Everyone was in by 12 noon. Junior blessed the food and lunch was served to the hungry divers and bagboys followed by their families. The menu included hamburgers, hotdogs, french fries, and pizza. Drinks were donated by Paradise Beverages and Ron Camarao. Thanks to all who brought desserts which included doughnuts, cookies, brownies, etc.
