INFORMATION AND RULES:
When: Sunday, January 31st, 2016
Location: dive anywhere on Oahu, swim out only (no kayaks)
Weigh-in: 2:00 p.m. at Napuanani Park in Aiea Heights (99-1200 Napuanani Rd.)
Entry fee: $25 for AHK members and $35 for non-members
Deadline: Mail your application and entry fee to Jason Hijirida, 94-464 Kaweloalii St, Mililani HI 96789; must be postmarked by Monday, January 25th, 2016.
Time: Divers may begin diving at sunrise, and must be at Napuanani Park for the weigh-in by 2:00 p.m. at the latest.
Scoring: The minimum eligible tako weight is 2 pounds; no scooping in the tako categories. Awards will be given for: 1st, 2nd, 3rd place Total Weight Tako; 1st, 2nd, 3rd place Heaviest Tako; Longest Tako; and a special award will be given for the heaviest mystery fish caught with 3-prong and must be one of the following:
- 12-inch minimum: all goats, aawa, awaawa, mu, enenui, uhu
- 16-inch minimum: opelu kala, horn kala
- 18-inch minimum: all blue water fish, awa, uku, jacks
- No minimum: roi, toau, taape
DIVE RULES:
- No boats, kayaks, motorized propulsion, or scuba
- Divers must enter the water from the shoreline of Oahu
- Fish lost due to bad shot is fair game to all other divers.
- No mutilated fish will be scored
- All divers must weigh their fish
- Weighing in undersized fish (by state law) will result in DQ
- Weigh-master’s decision is final
FOOD:
Lunch will be provided. Bring your own drinks, chairs, family, and friends!
Dive safety: Dive with a buddy… for his safety and yours! All divers are required to use a dive flag. Dive knife is highly recommended. Each diver is responsible for his or her own safety. Don’t dive somewhere you can’t handle; know your limits. Weigh-in will not begin until all divers are accounted for. If you are unable to be back in time, please call Jason at (808) 386-3483.
